As a US based Associate Broker and global real estate professional I made the decision to move aboard to explore how people live, invest and build wealth beyond borders.

Traveling the world is a dream for many, but my goal goes beyond just visiting new places. I live in different countries, immerse myself in their cultures, and share real estate insights from each location. As a nomad real estate agent, I combine my passion for exploring with my profession, providing market updates, investment opportunities, and a personal look into my journey. This post shares my experience from Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, Guanacaste, Costa Rica, and now Bali, Indonesia, where I continue to learn, educate, and grow.

My Journey as a Nomad Realtor

Moving abroad as a realtor is not just about working remotely. It means living the lifestyle, understanding local markets firsthand, and connecting with people on the ground. My first stop was Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, a vibrant beach town with a growing real estate market. Next, I moved to Guanacaste, Costa Rica, known for its natural beauty and increasing interest from lifestyle buyers. Each place offered unique insights into how real estate markets operate in different cultural and economic environments.

Now, Bali is my latest adventure. This island is famous for its stunning landscapes and spiritual culture, but it also presents a fascinating real estate scene shaped by a mix of locals, expats, and investors.

Experiencing Bali’s Unique Traffic and Lifestyle

One of the first things I noticed when I arrived in Bali was the traffic. With over 270 million people living on the island, the roads are packed, and the motorbikes are the fastest way to get around. Riding a Grab (a popular ride-hailing service) for the first time was a heart-pounding experience. The driver weaved through traffic with skill and speed, creating lanes where none officially exist and stopping abruptly to avoid collisions. It was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking.

This chaotic traffic reflects the island’s growing population and popularity. Bali has become a hotspot for digital nomads, entrepreneurs, and lifestyle buyers seeking a mix of work and leisure. Areas like Canggu, Seminyak, and Ubud are especially popular, filled with remote workers, expats, and tourists.

Real Estate Trends in Bali

From a real estate perspective, Bali is attracting a diverse group of investors. Some are looking to live here full-time, others part-time, and many want to expand their investment portfolios. The market includes villas, apartments, and land for development, catering to different budgets and preferences.

Here are some key points about Bali’s real estate market:

  • Popular Areas

Canggu offers a laid-back vibe with cafes and co-working spaces, ideal for digital nomads. Seminyak is more upscale, with luxury villas and beach clubs. Ubud attracts those interested in culture and wellness.

  • Investment Opportunities

Many investors buy property to rent out to tourists or long-term expats. Bali’s tourism industry supports a strong rental market, but buyers should be aware of local regulations regarding foreign ownership.

  • Market Growth

Economic growth in Bali is noticeable, but some areas feel crowded. This growth drives demand for real estate but also challenges infrastructure and sustainability.

  • Legal Considerations

Foreigners can acquire Leasehold options or Freehold options with specific regulations and requirements. It’s essential to work with trusted local experts to navigate these complexities.

✈️ Living and Working as a Nomad Realtor

Being a nomad realtor means balancing work with exploration. I spend my days meeting local agents, visiting properties, and learning about market trends. Evenings are for experiencing local culture, cuisine, and community events. This lifestyle helps me provide authentic insights to clients interested in international real estate.

Some lessons I’ve learned:

  • Adaptability is Key

Each country has different rules, customs, and market dynamics. Staying flexible and open-minded is essential.

  • Building Local Connections

Relationships with local agents, developers, and residents provide valuable information and opportunities.

  • Continuous Learning

Real estate markets evolve quickly. Living in the market allows me to stay ahead of trends and offer timely advice.

What’s Next on My Journey

After Bali, I plan to explore more countries, continuing to combine my love for travel with real estate expertise. Each destination adds to my understanding and enriches the content I share with you. Whether you’re an investor, a lifestyle buyer, or simply curious about living abroad, I invite you to follow along. 🧳

Living as a nomad realtor is a unique way to experience the world while growing professionally. Bali has shown me the challenges and rewards of working in a dynamic, crowded market full of opportunity. If you’re considering international real estate or a nomadic lifestyle, remember that success comes from living the experience, learning continuously, and building genuine connections.
